Thank you Age Concern
Big round of applause for the kind hearted team at Age Concern
The 22-strong team at Age Concern, South Shields, has been nominated by Monica Scott, who says they have all gone above and beyond the call of duty to support the local community.
Monica, said: “The staff are operating with reduced members of staff and working hard to ensure vulnerable people in the borough receive their shopping and by keeping in touch with clients by telephone to check they are doing ok.
“They are going out of their way to play a supportive role to people in need.”
Grahame Cassidy, from Pelaw, said: “I am delighted that all 22 of the team have been recognised for their efforts during what is a very difficult time.
“The team really does put the community at the heart of everything it does. Just before the government lockdown we received increased levels of shopping requests from vulnerable people. We ensured that our support would be free and alongside South Tyneside Homes and the local authority hub, we have collectively carried out around 400 shopping trips a week as well as over 50 prescription drop-offs to those who need it.
“The team has also collected and dropped off people who needed routine hospital visits to ensure they could get to their appointments. I am extremely proud of all of their hard work and support for the community.”
The Mayor of South Tyneside Councillor Norman Dick, said: “On behalf of the people of South Tyneside, The Mayoress and I would like to convey our gratitude to you for providing much needed support to vulnerable people across the Borough.
“Your efforts have not gone unrecognised and as the Borough’s First Citizen, I would like to say a huge personal thank you for being part of our community and for helping us to address this challenge in an extremely positive way. We are extremely #proud.”
