Lisa and the Boldon and Bede Children’s Centre staff

Thank you Lisa and the Boldon and Bede Children’s Centre

Lisa Campbell and her team at Boldon and Bede Children’s Centres have been giving local key workers the childcare they need to keep South Tyneside going

Usually found caring for toddlers at Biddick Hall and Whiteleas Children’s Centre, since the pandemic Lisa Campbell has been part of a core team working at Boldon and Bede Children’s Centre to provide childcare for the families of key workers and children requiring extra support.

With new working patterns introduced to ensure care is available for children at the nursery, Lisa and her colleagues have had to adapt quickly to a new way of working. The team at the Children’s Centre have been strictly following social distancing wherever possible, with children greeted at the door to avoid parents having to enter the building.

Lisa has also been working closely with staff at the Children’s Centre to ensure that the team stay in touch with families and other services. She’s also been liaising with catering services to provide healthy and nutritious meals for the children throughout their time at the nursery.

“We’re proud to be supporting the needs of our families at this time, providing the best possible care while also keeping them safe,” says Lisa. “The team and I are proud to work in our community, offering our local key workers the childcare they need to enable them to continue in their important work.”

The Mayor of South Tyneside Councillor Norman Dick, said: “On behalf of the people of South Tyneside, The Mayoress and I would like to convey our gratitude to you for your support to children at South Tyneside’s childcare centres."

“Providing safe childcare is of the utmost importance, even more so during these unprecedented times, and is so valued by parents and families. As the Borough’s First Citizen, I would like to say a huge personal thank you for being part of our community and for helping us address this challenge and supporting our younger residents in an extremely positive way. We are extremely #proud.”
